Pueblo Kichwa Rukullakta y Corporación BYOS consolidan alianza estratégica para fortalecer la gestión territorial y ambiental en Napo

El Pueblo Kichwa de Rukullakta (PKR) avanza en la protección de su territorio con la firma de un importante convenio de colaboración con la Corporación BYOS. El acuerdo se suscribió el pasado 5 de abril de 2025, durante la Sesión Solemne por las festividades del Pueblo Kichwa de Rukullakta, como parte del proyecto “Creation of conservation areas to guarantee the management of natural heritage in the Andean Amazon of northern Ecuador”, una iniciativa conjunta de Andes Amazon Fund (AAF), Fundación Futuro Latinoamericano (FFLA) y Corporación BYOS. Este acuerdo marca un nuevo capítulo en el fortalecimiento de la gestión territorial y ambiental liderada por el PKR, y reafirma su compromiso con la protección del patrimonio natural y cultural del país.

Kichwa communities in Archidona achieve first national recognition OMEC Comunitario integrates their ancestral worldview as a model for biodiversity conservation

The Kichwa communities of Santa Rita and San Francisco, located in the Archidona canton of the Napo province in the Ecuadorian Amazon, have reached a milestone in biodiversity conservation by obtaining the first national community recognition that values their ancestral worldview (Sachawa: forest space-Chakrawa: chakra space-Runawa: community space) as an effective conservation model within the framework of Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OMEC).

PUCE Manabí and CEELA make progress on the efficient and sustainable design of the new campus in Manta

The new campus of the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador in Manabí (PUCE Manabí) is making steady progress toward its sustainability goal. On February 4 and 5, 2025, a new design workshop was held, attended by CEELA's country management in Ecuador, led by Pablo Lloret, together with the CEELA and Minergie technical team made up of Fabián Colcha and Jaire Cagigal, and the design leaders of PUCE Manabí, with the aim of defining key strategies for its new buildings.

Biologist and social entrepreneur with Ashoka (www.ashoka.org). President of the company PERIFERIA, Territorios Vivos (www.periferia.pe) and co-director of the Sustainable Cities Platform “MiCiudad” with WWF Peru (www.miciudad.pe). Anna has more than 25 years of experience in development projects and environmental management and urban sustainability consultancies in the NGO, public and private sectors. She has held management positions in the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, the Lima Parks Service (SERPAR), the Lima Regional Government Program, GEA Group and the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of the Scientific University of the South.
