Towards Integrated Conflict Management Systems in Latin America and the Caribbean

As of April 2022, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has contracted a consortium of non-governmental organizations to design a system to address conflict in the mining sector and a regional monitor of mining conflict in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Consortium is made up of:

Diálogo, Innovación y Cambio S.C. (DialógICa), a Mexican organization, made up of people with extensive experience in dialogue facilitation, agreement building and conflict resolution through dialogue.
Consensus Building Institute (https://www.cbi.org/), an organization based in the United States, made up of collaborators with expertise in mediation, citizen participation processes, dialogue and negotiation.
Fundación Futuro Latinoamericano (www.ffla.net), based in Ecuador, which since 1993 has contributed to sustainable development in Latin America through multi-stakeholder dialogue.
Centro Regional de Empresas y Emprendimientos Responsables (https://www.creer-ihrb.org/), based in Colombia, with significant experience in the extractive sector and human rights.
The consultancy has different phases. In the first phase, a diagnosis of mining conflict in Latin America and the Caribbean will be prepared from the perspective of the diversity of actors, including case studies in Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, and Brazil, as well as Canada.
