CEELA Project

CEELA implementation in Latin American buildings

20/04/2022

The Project Strengthening Capacities for Energy Efficiency in Latin America, CEELA, whose work scope includes Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, has been effectively developed in Ecuador, where the Fundación Futuro Latinoamericano (FFLA), led by its Executive Director Pablo Lloret, is managing the project. The CEELA project aims to train and advise professionals in the sector to promote energy-efficient buildings, adaptive comfort, and low or zero CO2 emissions through the construction sector, educational offers, as well as strengthening capacities and knowledge exchange based on learning, transformation, and construction.

Under this framework, Ecuador is preparing for Net Zero – Latitude 0, an initiative carried out by the Ecuadorian Council for Sustainable Building (CEES), with the collaboration of the University of Azuay and the CEELA Project, aiming to promote sustainable buildings in Latin America.

In an innovative format, the Net Zero – Latitude 0 international seminar will take place on May 12 and 13, 2022, both in person and virtually, targeting those interested in learning and contributing to achieving carbon neutrality in the construction sector. This training space consists of 20 hours over two days, where participants will learn about global sustainability frontiers, exemplary projects in the region, and the local state of the art. The seminar will also address theoretical concepts, certification information, regulatory frameworks, and best practices. The CEELA Project will be part of the new category of BAQ 2022. With the regional positioning of the CEELA Project, it is expected to participate as one of the jurors in the new category of the Bienal Panamericana de Arquitectura de Quito 2022. In its XXIII edition, this event will also award sustainable projects that demonstrate a positive and tangible impact on the habitat. “Sustainable Architecture and Energy Efficiency” is the name of this new category, which will be open to participants from all over the world. This addition aims to promote practices that generate a lower environmental impact. Want to be part of BAQ 2022? Find out the competition details at the following link: https://baq-cae.ec/concurso/
